"I have been told that a man who was walking near the Canadian Embassy in Garden City, this past Sunday evening around 8:30PM was attacked at knife point and robbed. His assailant did scratch him with the knife. Fortunately the cut wasn't deep enough to require stitches. This man has had his computer and wallet taken. As there were no police in the street, it was relatively easy for the robber/s to take what was wanted from him.
Please be aware of your surroundings when walking alone at night and especially when carrying a computer bag or for women who are carrying handbags. This is the third such story that I have heard recently. Another one being that two men on a motorcycle attacked a couple who were walking in the Down Town area later in the night. One was carrying a bag. And a man walking alone was attacked in the early part of last week, again in Down Town and did suffer injuries that required going to the hospital. Since the incident he is still being seen and under medical care and treatment. Again, no police were around to come to the aid of him or any of these victims.
Do practice extra caution when going out and about at night and be vigilant of your surroundings and try to go with a friend or two. There is more safety in numbers."

"My friend and I just got robbed near Tahrir Square on our way back home at 4:30am. It was your typical 3-guys on a motorcycle combo. Two guys jumped off with swords and started harassing my friend, while the third guy buzzed around on his motorcycle waiting for the getaway. I knew who they were and what they wanted as soon as I saw them, but it was too late because they had already snatched up my friend before we could run
I've seen these types before when I come home late at night, and I walk brusquely so it's not as much of a problem, but apparently with two people we had hit critical mass and had slowed down enough for them to get us. Just be careful guys and know that with no police around at night, you are by yourselves! Seems to be more and more common. Stay safe! "
